My girl is scarred for life but the police said there is nothing they can do

THE distraught mum of a little girl who was left ‘scarred for life’ and needing plastic surgery after a horror dog attack has claimed the police told her there was ‘nothing they could do’.

Lilah, aged nine, was out with her pal from school on a playpark on Clough Street in Wardle, Rochdale, on June 7, when she was asked if wanted to hold a Border Collie that had been brought onto the park.

A few moments later her friend then picked up the dog, before it launched an attack on Lilah, biting her face and leaving the youngster injured and covered in blood.

After being rushed back to her friend’s house across the street by a group of teenagers, emergency services were then called and Lilah was taken to Manchester Children’s Hospital for immediate surgery.

Over two months on from the dog attack, Lilah’s mum Natalie has claimed police told her there was ‘nothing they could do’ and said they failed to interview key witnesses. Natalie said the dog was not with the owner at the time of the attack, but with a woman who was minding the dog instead.

She has since lodged a number of complaints with Greater Manchester Police, who have now vowed to continue investigating and seeking witnesses as part of enquiries.
