A number of readers contacted the Manchester Evening News about the lights (pictured) which were seen above parts of Stockport between 11pm and midnight on July 25.
Others took to social media to share footage of the display, which left them scratching their heads. The lights were reportedly seen above areas including Bramhall, Hazel Grove and Edgeley.
