NEARLY 7,000 children across Greater Manchester will be homeless on Christmas Day, a charity says.
A study by Shelter reveals around 13,500 people across the region will spend the festive period in emergency accommodation. Half of them are thought to be children, the charity says.
Many ‘will be put up in B&Bs and hostels, often with one family in a single room, sharing bathrooms and kitchens with other residents’, Shelter adds. Around 150 people will spend Christmas on the streets, it is thought.
Across the region, an estimated 13,486 people are without a home, including 6,739 children in temporary accommodation.
