BOMB THREATS TO AIRLINES
Govt plans legislative actions; mulls placing perpetrators in no-fly list

NEW DELHI: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu on Monday said that making hoax bomb threat calls to airlines will be made a cognisable offence, as multiple carriers in the past few days have received several such calls, causing major disruptions of flight operations across the country.

Calling it a sensitive situation, the minister, at a press briefing, also said that those who make such hoax calls will be placed on the no-fly list of airlines. In the last week, nearly 100 flights of Indian airlines received bomb threats.

Naidu said amendments are being planned to aviation security rules as well as the Suppression of Unlawful Acts Against Safety of Civil Aviation Act, 1982.
