28 IN HOSPITAL, SEVERAL CRITICAL
Raj: At least 11 dead in fire after LPG tanker collides with truck on Jaipur-Ajmer highway

A catastrophic collision on the Jaipur-Ajmer highway on Friday morning resulted in the deaths of at least 11 people and sent 37 vehicles up in flames. The collision involved an LPG tanker and a truck, sparking a deadly blaze that consumed a large section of the busy highway, leaving numerous people with severe burns and injuries.

The accident occurred at approximately 5:30 am, when it was still dark. The LPG tanker collided with a truck, causing a massive gas leak from the damaged outlet nozzle. The ensuing fire spread quickly, engulfing vehicles in its path. Many of those in the affected vehicles had little time to escape as the flames spread rapidly. The horrific scene included desperate people trying to flee as flames engulfed their clothes. According to Dr Deepak Maheshwari, Principal of SMS Medical College,... the death toll currently stands at 11, with five victims brought dead to SMS hospital and five others succumbing to their injuries during treatment. A further casualty was reported from Jaipuria Hospital. Authorities indicated that the death toll could rise as more details emerge.

In total, 43 people were brought to SMS hospital, 28 of whom are still being treated. Seven of these individuals are on ventilator support, while many others are in critical condition. Some people with minor injuries were able to leave after receiving treatment.
