The field of candidates-who say they want to run for Mayor of Philadelphia just got a little bit larger this past week. Supermarket guru Jeff Brown, the owner of some 12 Brown ShopRite Supermarkets in Philadelphia and the immediate suburbs, says he wants to be the next Mayor.
And now there are 6 candidates for Mayor of Philly in 2023

"We need someone who understands the power of education.

We need someone who understands that all of us are here because of second and third chances. But not just to have the idea of a second or of third chances in our mind, but to have the opportunity for second and third chances in our actions," said Rev. Dr. Marshall Mitchell. The pastor of Salem Baptist Church and Pinn Memorial Baptist Church. The fiery pastor said he was pleased to stand up on behalf of Jeff Brown, who announced on Wednesday, March 16, that he intends to run for Mayor of the city of Philadelphia.

Now joining an already crowded field of mayoral hopefuls, Marshall Mitchell made a strong pitch for why he thinks Jeff Brown should be Philadelphia’s next Mayor. Reverend Mitchell went on to say, “We need a Mayor who can help coalesce all of the different parts of the city, from the northwest to the southwest. We need someone who, helps and understands and has a heart for humanity and is not just showing up with quadrennial religiosity by coming to our church because it is every four years or every two years, and they are running. We need someone who has shown up when the cameras were not around. We need someone who shows up because they care, and they actually give a damn about the city, and they act like it.
