Contrary to the wishes of the British people, The Blob has ruled that the plan to send asylum seekers and illegal migrants to Rwanda is "unlawful" on the grounds it is not safe enough, thereby violating an article in the European Convention on Human Rights.
What does this mean?
It means Rishi Sunak cannot start deporting some of the 100,000-plus illegal migrants who have arrived in Britain since 2018.
It means he will be unable to stop the rising number of small boats crossing the Channel.
It means he will be unable to deter tens of thousands, if not hundreds of thousands, more people from making the perilous crossing.
And, most importantly, it means he will be unable to honour the promise he and his government made to the British people that they would give them back control of their own borders.
Make no mistake, this ruling is not just about how we should deal with the spiralling number of illegal migrants who are costing the British people billions of pounds each year. It is about something even more important.
It is about democracy.
It is about whether the people who run Britain are in touch with the people who surround them.
