Supreme Court: NGT Cannot Outsource Its Opinion To Committees And Base Its Decision On Such Opinions

The Supreme Court in the case M/s Grasim Industries v. State of Madhya Pradesh observed and has criticised the National Green Tribunal, NGT for outsourcing its opinion to a committee and is based on opinion which is only on the findings of the committee.

The bench comprising of Justice BR Gavai and Justice KV Viswanathan was hearing the present matter.

The bench in the case observed that the National Green Tribunal, NGT is a tribunal which is constituted under the National Green Tribunal Act of 2010.

The National Green Tribunal while considering the facts and circumstances of the case is set to arrive at its decision.
