The Supreme Court in the case Thiruvambady Devaswom and another v. Union of India observed and has stayed the restrictions which is imposed by the Kerala High Court for the use of elephants in temple festivals.
The court in its order stated that any direction which is being issued by the High Court is contrary to the Kerala Captive Elephants (Management and Maintenance) Rules, 2012 would remain stayed.
