Last week proved very good for me as I managed to bag seven winners from the time of writing the column.
Long may it continue! Last week saw our best bet on the card, Meridius, win a lovely race and start his campaign for the season really nicely. He is a horse to follow through the season.
Also, those who took the suggested Pick 6 also came away with a decent profit as it returned R24,452 for an outlay of R1,188.
Thursday saw the annual Equus Awards taking place, and this year the event was held in Cape Town at Hollywoodbets Kenilworth racecourse. It looked to be an absolutely lovely event as always.
Quid Pro Quo was an absolute certainty for Champion Two-Year-Old Filly after achieving what no other two-year-old has done, winning all three major feature races for the during the KZN season, including the two Grade 1s. I cannot wait to see how she matures into her three-year-old career.
Proceed won the Champion Two-YearOld Colt award after his outstanding season which saw him bag the Grade 1 Gold Medallion at Scottsville as well the Grade 3 Protea Stakes on the Highveld.
Gimme A Nother was named Champion Three-Year-Old Filly after her dominant and unbeaten season which saw her win a host of feature races, including the Grade 1 SA Fillies Classic and Grade 1 Empress Club Stakes.
While she had a busy Joburg season, it would have been special to see her participate in KZN, but she has an overseas mission and I'm sure she'll do us really proud on the world stage.
Green With Envy was named Champion Three-Year-Old Colt after a superb year which started in the Western Cape and continued through the Durban season.
He is a superb horse and winning the Cape Derby and the Daily News 2000 (both Grade 1s) among other feature races sealed the deal for a champion horse.
Thunderstruck was named Champion Sprinter after a really consistent and exceptional season that saw him competing in Cape Town and Joburg.
