Last week's headliner on the card was a Pinnacle Stakes over 1450m and we saw Unzen put up another impressive performance to win comfortably.
He has really gained his confidence, and he is in a really good place, so it will be interesting to see if he takes his chances in the Betway Joburg Spring Challenge at the beginning of October.
We also witnessed a really impressive performance from Mount Pinatubo when he won a Graduation Plate over 1200m.
The drop back in trip clearly did the trick and I was really taken by the way he moved into the race and his immediate turn of foot.
I think he could be a really decent sprinter and is one to follow.
Johan Janse van Vuuren had three winners on the card, so it was a lovely afternoon for him and all his connections.
On a personal note, it was another lovely week for me from the time I wrote the column as I managed to boot home eight winners and I will be doing everything I can to keep the ball rolling.
We have another double header on offer for punters today with racing at Turffontein on the Inside track as well as Hollywoodbets Durbanville.
We will be focusing on the Turffontein card and the headliner on the card is Race 6, a Pinnacle Stakes over 1000m, where we see high class horses, Dyce, William Robertson and Anfields Rocket all taking their places.
I have a full book of rides and some have really decent chances, so I am expecting a really good day from my side.
Race 1 is a Maiden Plate for three-year-olds over 1450m and I ride Zafar who has some fair form. His last run was decent, so I think he can definitely run into the money.
Ichacha ran a really good race on debut and only found his feet very late. He finished the race off really well and with natural improvement, he is the horse we have to beat.
Flight Engineer was just in from of him, so he should be right there at the finish too.
