TERRITORY TREND: IT HANDLES THE ROAD IN DRY, WET AND SNOWY CONDITIONS
Trevor Stevens

Take a quick trip down with the family to KwaZulu-Natal's South Coast for a week during the September school holidays, I thought. The stars were aligned and with no school sports trips planned for a change, the chance to get away from the rat race for a few days to enjoy sunshine, the beach and the sea had presented itself. What could possibly go wrong? Probably more than you think, but our little adventure down to Scottburgh last month, with the teens and mom in tow, will be one the family will be talking about for years to come.

It's one I will never forget as we faced a tricky trip down, but one I won't be keen on repeating any time soon. That we made it down and back in one piece and in style, we have the impressive Territory Trend 1.8l EcoBoost seven-speed auto to thank for.

The week of departure in question? The weekend when snow fell in the Eastern Cape and central and lower Drakensberg, leaving hundreds of motorists stranded in the adverse conditions. We were fortunate that we didn't get stuck on the road overnight - we probably missed the cut off by 30 minutes to an hour - but had we been stranded we were comfortable, had blankets, water and food, so would have been safe in the Ford Territory.
