The Assam Police have uncovered a massive ₹2,000crore financial scam involving fraudulent online stock market investments, according to sources. The operation, led by brokers promising to give assured returns people’s money, has resulted in the arrest of more than 30 individuals, with further arrests expected as the investigation expands across the state.
The arrested primary suspects, Vishal Phukan, a 22-year-old online trader from Dibrugarh, and Swapnil Das from Guwahati, allegedly enticed investors with guarantees of 30 per cent return on their investments within 60 days.
