FROM CLASSROOM TO STAGE: THE JOURNEY OF MUSIC EDUCATION AND PERFORMANCE

Malcolm Gladwell's popular theory suggests it takes 10,000 hours to master a skill, whether you are training to be an athlete, chef, doctor, or teacher. However, mastering a skill requires more than just practice; it also demands opportunities to showcase talent. For aspiring musicians, this is especially true—learning, practice, and performance are all vital for success. Competing in track meets helps athletes perform at the highest level, just as musicians need platforms to express themselves and become well-rounded performers ready for any stage.

When wide-eyed students first set foot into a classroom, they are brimming with excitement of the unknown, eager to soak every bit of musical knowledge provided to them. The initial focus during the early days of music education is on the absolute basics: understanding rhythm, reading notes, learning the different Ragas, and/or familiarizing themselves with an instrument of their liking. For the ones learning various styles of Classical singing, they are also usually taught to play the Harmonium, which is the primary instrument used during practice as well. The beginning of an individual's musical journey is a time of pure exploration, where the seeds of passion are sown.
