The bench comprising of CJI DY Chandrachud, Justice JB Pardiwala and Justice Manoj Misra was hearing the present matter.
The bench in the case agreed to consider the issues raised in the PIL.
In the present case, the petition has been filed by Dr. Satendra Singh, a prominent disability rights activist, licensed medical professional, and advisor to the State Commissioner for Persons with Disabilities, SCPD, New Delhi.
The Public Interest Litigation, PIL filed states that the non-compliance and ignorance by the State Authorities of the recommendations made by the CCPD and SCPDs in matters of violation of the rights of disabled persons under the RPWD Act 2016.
The Section 75(b) and Section 80(b) empower CCPD and SCPDS to investigate complaints either suo motu or based on complaints which are received concerning violations of the rights of persons with disabilities.
