The Gujarat lobby, led by Gujarat BJP President CR Paatil and Home Minister Harsh Sanghavi, faced internal scrutiny by the BJP high command following their below-average performance in managing the Varanasi Lok Sabha election campaigning.

Gujarat lobby faces internal probe over poll performance

Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who contested from Varanasi, won with a margin of 1.50 lakh votes, which party officials considered unimpressive when compared to the 2019 results.

In the previous elections, PM Modi won by an impressive 4.79 lakh votes. Following the Ram Temple inauguration, the BJP leadership had hoped for a bigger victory margin.
