IIT Roorkee experts will inspect Malabar Hill reservoir on June 3

The BMC had approached them last month after two conflicting reports from its own panel

An expert team from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Roorkee will visit Mumbai next week to inspect the contentious Malabar Hill reservoir. The team will assess two contradictory BMC expert committee reports.

Based on the final expert assessment, the civic body will decide whether to demolish or reconstruct the 135-yearold reservoir beneath the iconic Hanging Gardens.

After public outcry over the decision to demolish the reservoir and build a new one, the BMC had appointed an expert panel comprising eight members - three professors from IIT-Bombay, architects, local citizen representatives and one BMC official.
