The Enforcement Directorate (ED) has uncovered an alleged connection between Saurabh Chandrakar, the promoter of Mahadev Online Book, and Bollywood. Officials said the investigation exposes the underbelly of illegal betting that allegedly funnels vast sums of money into film production.
As per the prosecution complaint (PC) filed by the ED at the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Raipur, at the heart of the alleged scandal is Qureshi Productions, a Mumbai-based company. Investigations have revealed that the firm's director, Waseem Qureshi, also runs a Dubai-based event management firm, Muskan Entertainment, which arranged for Bollywood stars to perform at Saurabh Chandrakar's wedding in Ras Al Khaimah, UAE, in February 2023. The investigation has revealed that Qureshi, along with CEO Karan Ramani, are the beneficiaries of Muskan.
