Nitish satisfied with Nirmala's sops
The Free Press Journal|July 24, 2024
Bihar chief minister and JD (U) president Nitish Kumar on Tuesday said that the union budget for the year 2024-25 was a positive budget and extended special thanks to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman for taking special care of the state's needs.
Dheeraj Kumar

He told reporters, "The announcements made for Bihar in the union budget will boost the state's development. I hope that the Centre will keep cooperating for the state's development by fulfilling its other needs in future." When asked if he was happy with the budget, JD (U) responded with a categorical "Haan, bhai" (yes, of course).

When specifically asked about the grant of special status to Bihar, Nitish said, "There is no provision for granting special status to states any longer. Now, we are getting special assistance." Nitish's appreciation is seen as a boost for the BJPJD (U) relationship when the future of the NDA in Bihar came under scanner after the Centre rejected the   former''s demand of the grant of special status to the state on Monday.
