Israeli war cabinet minister Benny Gantz has said that the country will "exact a price from Iran" when the "time is right".
The war cabinet went into a huddle after Iran fired hundreds of drones and missiles 300 by one account -- in its first direct attack on Israel from its own territory after years of shadow fighting through proxies. Footage released by Iranian state TV showed huge clouds of smoke and blinding flashes as hundreds of missiles were fired in an attempt to 'overwhelm' Israeli defences with various weapons from different directions. Israeli sources said a miniscule seven of the 131 ballistic missiles sneaked through the multi-layered defence system, inflicting minimal damage.
