TWO years ago, when six-piece band Some Kinda Wonderful came to the Barbican Theatre, they not only raised the roof they enticed pretty much the entire audience up on their feet dancing to their irresistibly sublime renditions of Stevie Wonder's music. They return to the venue under their new moniker The Wonder of Stevie as part of an extensive tour of the UK.
The band was formed seven. years ago by award winning jazz sax player, band leader, composer and producer Derek Nash together with Noel McCalla, hailed by Blues and Soul magazine as 'one of Britain's best soul singers.
A member of Jools' Holland's Rhythm and Blues Orchestra for the past 20 years and The Ronnie Scott's Blues Explosion, Derek has won several British Jazz Awards fronting Sax Appeal and has performed with the likes of Eric Clapton, Sir Paul McCartney, Amy Winehouse and Gregory Porter to name but a few.
"I always loved Noel's singing voice and was a big fan of him fronting the Morrissey Mullen Band, Derek enthuses.
