IT is being alleged that the entrepreneur Steven Bartlett has allowed health misinformation to be shared on his hit podcast, The Diary of a CEO.
A BBC investigation has analysed 15 recent health-related episodes and found that 14 claims were made that opposed scientific evidence.
Comments on the show suggesting that cancer can be treated by following a keto diet were allegedly left unchallenged by Mr Bartlett, the BBC claims. The podcast production company Flight Studio said guests were offered "freedom of expression" and were "thoroughly researched".
Podcasts in the UK are not regulated by the media regulator, Ofcom.
This means that Mr Bartlett is not breaking any rules.
Mr Bartlett, who was raised in Plymouth and attended Plymstock School, launched the popular The Diary of a CEO podcast in 2017. It initially focused on business but has recently concentrated more on health. The BBC has since analysed a number of episodes and factchecked them with four medical experts.
