Children 'sick after wild swim'

'POORLY' AFTER SWIMMING IN PLYMBRIDGE WOODS

A WORRIED Plymouth mum says her child became sick after swimming in the River Plym at the weekend. There are reports of up to nine children, aged between six and 11, becoming poorly after playing in the water at Plymbridge Woods on Saturday.

Sarah Hemmings, a nurse, said her son and his friend have been off school ill as a result. And other parents have taken to social media to complain to South West Water that their children had gastroenteritis after swimming in the river.

South West Water has confirmed a team investigated the reports at the weekend but ‘there was nothing of concern to report’. A spokesperson added that the River Plym at Plymbridge Woods ‘is not a designated bathing water’.
