Plymouth Waterfront Partnership (PWP) wants even more people to turn up in pirate costume in 2024, and will have a tilt at setting a record by having them all on the Hoe.
The ambitious stunt has been dreamt up after the huge success of this year’s event, on May 20 and 21, when 35,000 attended over the two days, beating predictions by 5,000.
A delighted Jon Walton, chief executive of PWP, said: “I have been involved in more than 500 events in my career, this is one of the, if not the, best I have been involved in – a huge team effort. What a way to enjoy the waterfront in Britain’s Ocean City.”
He added: “An estimated 10,000 attended dressed as pirates. We are hopefully going to go for a world record attempt next year on the Hoe.”
