PLYMOUTH healthcare provider Livewell Southwest CIC made a pretax loss of £5.2m after having to pay staff bonuses following the nurses' strike. The company, which employs more than 2,600 people, also saw its bill for agency staff almost double after paying £6m for locum doctors in five Plymouth surgeries.

Livewell Southwest provides health and social care services across Plymouth, the South Hams and West Devon. Its newly published annual report and financial statements for the year to the end of March 2023, its 11th year of trading, show a beforetax loss of £5,240,546 after making a profit of £322,518 the year before.
