A PLYMOUTH parcel depot and jobs have been saved after Tuffnells Parcels Express Ltd was bought out of administration by one of the city’s fastest growing firms. Royal William Yard-based logistics platform Shift last month acquired nationallyknown Tuffnells and, after talks, has said it will open 25 Tuffnells depots, including the one at Lee Mill.
There are also plans to invest in the city depot as Shift re-launches Tuffnells, preserving its 100-year heritage. Tuffnells fell into administration last month with the loss of more than 2,000 jobs around the country.
On June 26, Shift acquired its intellectual property, brand and selected assets from administrator Interpath Advisory and since then has been in talks about the delivery depots, with Shift assessing every depot for its suitability and how it fits with its tech proposition and ethos.
Shift has so far succeeded in securing nine depots including the one at Lee Mill. The others are in London, Birmingham, Manchester, Gateshead, Leicester, Wellingborough and Lanark.
