PLANS for a multi-million-pound refurbishment of Plymouth Guildhall have taken a step closer, but is subjected to more detailed discussions with costs having already risen beyond available funding.
The Grade II-listed building was given the green light last year after Plymouth City Council's application was approved, allowing the venue to host bands, conferences, training events, weddings and even hotdesking. The contract for the work has now been provisionally given to TEC Construction.
However, the decision is subject to detailed value engineering plans, and discussions around available budget, with costs have risen beyond the original £4m estimates - beyond the available funding.
