PLYMOUTH'S disused airport should continue to be protected from development, Plymouth City Council leader Tudor Evans has said.
Senior councillors from three councils are being told that "once gone, it would be gone forever", as they prepare to decide upon the 113-acre site's future.
The former airport land is currently protected by the restrictions of a Joint Local Plan (JLP), but in the next few weeks Plymouth City Council's cabinet, West Devon Borough Council's hub committee and South Hams District Council's executive will meet to consider whether the JLP - adopted in 2019 - still provides an appropriate framework for the area's development.
