PLANS to bring back into use a dilapidated dairy barn as a community events space have taken a step forward.
The hayloft on the Poole Farm site is currently unusable but Plymouth City Council has put forward renovation plans to bring it back into being an active building.
Poole Farm is nestled at the centre of the Derriford Community Park. The park comprises 147 hectares of natural space with wooded valleys, wildflower meadows and rivers, and the council would remodel the farm building so it could have a commercial use for events, educational visits and nature information for the general public
The hayloft building will be refurbished into an open plan space on the ground floor for community events and nature trails, with a welfare area on the first floor including a kitchenette and drying room. It is intended that the proposed building will use sustainable energy sources and promote wellbeing.
