HIDDEN ‘treasures’ from an iconic pier have been found at the bottom of the sea off Plymouth.
Many once-forgotten coins and tokens have been retrieved and they tell the diverse story of the Promenade Pier and conjure up days gone by on the waterfront.
Plymouth Pier in all its splendour opened in 1884, and it seems the attraction brought in visitors from far and wide - until it was bombed in the Second World War.
Now, diver Bozena Johnson has made it her mission to discover some of the long-lost treasures that were flung to the sea off Plymouth Hoe over 80 years ago.
Coins from many different countries, various tokens and even a Victorian ring are some of the items that 43-year-old Bozena has retrieved from her diving sessions.
