THE owner of Plymouth’s historic Drake’s Island is in talks with four potential investors as he reveals he would like to keep the landmark location.
Morgan Phillips, who bought the 6.4acre island for about £6m in 2019, said that although the property is on the market he ideally wants to retain at least some control over it – and is seeking investment towards a £22m redevelopment.
The Herald this week reported the fortified island was being marketed, with offers sought, by commercial property experts Carter Jonas. But Mr Phillips, who has confirmed this year’s tours and events will go ahead, said that only if someone offered him a substantial sum of money would he sell it.
