THE organiser of the city’s domestic abuse service fear there will be a rise in the number of violent incidents in the home, as football’s European Championship gets underway this week.
Sanctuary Supported Living runs the Plymouth Domestic Abuse Service (PDAS) and the Torbay Domestic Abuse Service (TDAS), and is predicting a rise in domestic abuse incidents during the tournament, which starts tomorrow.
It says that major sporting events can also be a time of increased risk for victims of domestic abuse, and it can occur whether the abuser’s team wins or loses.
