Foster frustrated by refereeing decisions
The Herald|April 01, 2024
IAN Foster was 'bitterly disappointed' with the performance of referee James Linington during Plymouth Argyle's defeat at Norwich City on Good Friday, while accepting his side had not been ruthless enough when it came to their goalscoring chances, writes Chris Errington.
Foster frustrated by refereeing decisions

The Pilgrims were ahead going into the second half after Morgan Whittaker had scored his 20th goal of the season to give them a 10th minute lead, but they were undone by conceding twice from corners as they slipped to a fourth defeat in their last five Championship matches.

There were two decisions from Linington that Foster was particularly upset about, the first of which came shortly after Norwich had drawn level with a 67th minute strike from Josh Sargent.

That was when Alfie Devine broke down the left and touched the ball past onrushing Norwich goalkeeper Angus Gunn. Foster thought it was a penalty but instead the on-loan Tottenham Hotspur attacker was yellow-carded for diving.

Foster was also aggrieved over the incident which led to defender Lewis Gibson having to stand on the touchline when City scored their second goal, which was deflected into the net off Argyle's Ashley Phillips.
