Funds are raised to buy dialysis machines

SPONSORS in Plymouth have come forward to provide funding for three dialysis machines which will be used for life-saving treatment in Ukraine while a comedy night this week will raise more funds.

The ongoing campaign by aid volunteers Andreas Evangelou and Maksym Litvinov has been boosted by the donations for their next trip to the country, which is planned for next month.

It will be Mr Evangelou's 10th trip since Russia launched its full-scale invasion of Ukraine two years ago, and he has built up a network of contacts so he is able to pinpoint what sort of donations are needed.

Having met with a doctor at a Ukrainian hospital on his last trip, dialysis machines were identified as being in short supply.

Thankfully, three sponsors have come forward to provide the funding for a machine each, while Mr Evangelou said he will personally buy new filters for each piece of equipment.
