Devonport High School for Girls said that, on average, its students achieved a Grade 7. More than 70% of papers received the top 9 to 7 grades and 25% of all results awarded were Grade 9s (the highest possible grade).
Twenty-five students achieved at least 5 grade 9s. Amongst them were Polly Evans, who achieved 10, and Samantha Beckett, Victoria Gauci and Erin Lynch who all achieved nine.
Many students will now transfer into the school’s Sixth Form and take up a place on A-level courses from September. Head Teacher Lee Sargeant said: “I am extremely proud of the students this year.
“They have achieved outstanding results, despite the disruption of the pandemic, during their time at the school. For students to have performed so well, really shows how resilient they are. My thanks go to the staff and parents who supported them to achieve so well. I wish all the students the best of luck as they move into their next phase of education and very much looking forward to welcoming back many of them into the DHSG Sixth Form.”
Students at Tavistock College, which is part of the Dartmoor Multi Academy Trust were also celebrating. Some particular individual highlights include:
■Finlay Ross - six grade 9s, three grade 8s and one grade 7.
■Daisy Hemming - two grade 9s, three grade 8s, one Distinction, two grade 7s and two grade 6s.
■Kieran Edwards - two grade 9s, four grade 8s, one grade 7, two grade 6s and one grade 5.
Pupils at Plympton Academy receive their GCSE results
■Mya Turner - one grade 9, three grade 8s, and four grade 7s.
