Hardie sets his sights on facing Mackems

STRIKER Ryan Hardie has set his sights on making his Plymouth Argyle comeback from a hamstring injury in the Championship match against Sunderland at Home Park on Saturday, November 25.

That will be the Pilgrims’ first fixture after the forthcoming two-week international break, which begins after their trip to play Leeds United at Elland Road tomorrow.

Hardie had to be substituted during the first half of the 3-2 Championship defeat away to Ipswich Town on October 28 and his replacement, Mustapha Bundu, also suffered a grade two hamstring strain later in the same game at Portman Road.

Manager Steven Schumacher will be guided by head physio Gareth Law over when Hardie and Bundu will be available for selection again.

Schumacher said: “Mustapha is out jogging on the grass. Ryan Hardie has been the same. Mustapha is still slightly ahead. We are probably going to see him before we see Ryan.

“Ryan wants to play in the Sunderland game. He has got his eye on that. We will just see how he goes. Gareth is very big on treating the player and going with the symptoms.

“He trusts his instinct on that and I trust Gareth 100 percent. Hopefully, we see them both not too long. Mustapha maybe Sunderland, Ryan maybe just after that.”

If Hardie is not ready to return against Sunderland, their following two games are away to Coventry City on Tuesday, November 28 and at home to Stoke City on Saturday, December 2.
