Hayman (31.31) ploughed in legs in 15 and 13 darts and also ended his night with 15 scores of a ton or more.
The man that Hayman defeated, James Stoodley, won his only leg in 18 darts and also claimed a jointhigh score for his team of 11 tons.
A brace of those Hayman tons were two of the four maximums in the game as Hayman’s team-mate, Lee Doncaster, fired a third for his side.
Glenn Halford was the only maximum hitter for the defeated team and finished his night matching Stoodley’s 11 ton-plusses.
Supporting act to Hayman’s heroics was Paul Palmer, who nailed ten tons to the board, whilst the home side surrendered a 4-1 lead to leave the game on a knife edge at 5-5 going into the last game.
A match that was so closely fought deserved to go down to a last leg decider with Paddy Archibald coming out a 3-2 winner to claim the spoils of a decent battle between himself and his opponent.
The unlucky man in that tie was Dan Hurley who certainly showed his class by ending the match with ten tons for his night’s work.
Octagon signed off a stellar title winning campaign with an 11-0 whitewash victory over Indian Inn with John Mann (26.10) once again starring in the success.
Mann was a 3-1 winner with his best leg an 18-darter, whilst the talismanic figure also walked away with 16 scores of a ton or more.
That haul included one of his team’s two maximums in the game as Alfie Ford also struck to join his 90 checkout that was the best finish of all 33 plundered in the match.
The next best scoring player was Danny Bull for the beleaguered opposition; finishing on 11 scores of a ton or more.
Mann’s team-mates, Lee Hellings and Fred Goldsmith, both made an impact in the game with ten tonplusses apiece.
The now two-time champions set about their opponents in the very first game with Mann, Ford and Quinton Taylor (28.60) putting away 1001 points in just 35 darts.
