Dylan Jones struck a dramatic stoppage-time winner at Walton & Hersham last week when it looked like luck would again conspire against Lee Hobbs’ side, who conceded an 89th-minute equaliser after another superb away performance. But Jones brilliantly took down a cross and finished in style with virtually the last kick of the game to earn his side a 2-1 victory they have been threatening for some time.
“I don’t know if you have watched the highlights back, but that is me you can hear, shouting and celebrating,” said Hobbs, who watched the game from the home side’s media box due to a touchline suspension. “I couldn’t contain myself!
“I wouldn’t say we were desperate for a win, but we needed the win and it was a really big moment for us. It gave me a decent bird’s eye view, but the boys in the dugout, they could be fully trusted. They didn’t need my advice with hardly anything, so it was a really good day against a top, top team. They were brilliant and it was a very lively bus on the way home.”
