Kids play area opens in Drake Circus

A NEW Plymouth city centre indoor play area has opened in Drake Circus Shopping Centre with its own "bespoke" cafe.

The Wild Things Play Project has unveiled the "non generic" play space which has naturally inspired climbing frames and features.

Kids can really let their imagination run wild in the new play area, but it's "as much about the parents as it is about the kids", the owner said.

The business, which also has a Wild Things play area in Bristol, has leased the top floor space that was previously occupied by the Cafe Curva restaurant, until it closed in January 2022.

Devonian Oliver Stroud, aged 42, is the founder of Wild Things Play Project. He said he wanted to address a "lack of decent indoor play" with Wild Things Play Project.

He explained that the Plymouth Wild Things has been 12 months in the making and said it was "very exciting" to be opening in the city.

Oliver said: "We wanted to offer nongeneric, bespoke play area along with food that we would eat ourselves or give to our own kids.

We've steered clear of sugary drinks (at the cafe) and we serve a great selection of fresh food." From freshly made pizzas and kinds of pasta to jacket potatoes and a selection of sandwiches, the cafe aims to provide nutritious and delicious options for families.
