Maserati not so electric to drive...

A FEW weeks ago I met a fellow car nut for lunch in a pub near his home in Kent. The landlord of this boozer is also into his motors and holds a classics meeting in the car park on one Sunday a month, with as many as 80 cars attending.

A lot of pubs do the same, so it didn't come as a huge surprise. But what did was the landlord explaining that he was a Maserati enthusiast not only did he have four of them, but he'd owned 34 in his lifetime.

Every single type of Maserati road car except the 1960s 3500GT. He'd even owned an early 70s Bora, which is my favourite of all time.

Maserati, like most car companies, is gradually going electric. Its first two models are the Granturismo Folgore and the Grecale Folgore.

I asked our publican what he thought of electrified Maseratis and almost received a life ban from the pub for even posing the question.

He's not keen.

Maserati UK has brought over a left-hand drive Grecale Folgore for us and other British motoring hacks to try out.

The Italian firm firm traditionally names its cars after winds (like the Bora) and the Grecale is a north east wind. Folgore is Italian for lightning, which seems appropriate for an EV.

Argyle's away day woes continue with another heavy hammering

PLYMOUTH Argyle suffered a humiliating 6-1 defeat by Norwich City at Carrow Road after a totally inept defensive display. Even by the low standards the Pilgrims have set on their travels in the Championship this season, which has seen them heavily beaten at Sheffield Wednesday, Cardiff City and Leeds United, this was an absolute shocker from Wayne Rooney's side.
