Mr Miliband pledged to harness the city’s “expertise, skills and know-how” to create more renewable energy such as floating offshore wind turbines and marine power.
The former Labour leader joined former Labour MP for Plymouth Sutton and Devonport Luke Pollard, and candidates Fred Thomas and Sarah Allen, on a visit to the city.
Labour have promised to establish a publicly-owned energy company, Great British Energy, which they say will cut household bills and deliver energy independence from tyrants such as Russian leader Vladimir Putin, who has funded a large part of his invasion of Ukraine on the back of oil and gas wealth.
