The "side" was joined by Plymouth Morris, Catseye, from Cornwall, and Dartmoor Border Morris as they entertained dozens of people with a pre-Christmas Saturday afternoon "dance out" outside the atmospheric Dolphin Inn.
The Old Town Twelves was started in 2013 when Alison Chapman and Steve Mason wanted to dance in the city, having been members of Catseye, in Liskeard. At that time, Plymouth Morris was not mixed, so they formed a new side, as morris groups are called.
There were just four of them to start with but, a decade on, the side has 12 dancers and two musicians. Its name comes from a Plymouth almshouse and it takes its colours and insignia from the old Plymouth workhouse, which can still be seen on the walls of the Plymouth Guildhall.
