STEVEN Schumacher has described his Plymouth Argyle players as 'special' after an intended push for the play-offs in League One this season turned into an 'incredible' title triumph.
Schumacher admitted the Pilgrims were put under intense pressure throughout the campaign by Ipswich Town, Sheffield Wednesday and Barnsley but they did not buckle.
They won their last six games, and 11 of the last 13, to finish on 101 points, three clear of runners-up Ipswich Town, with Wednesday a further two behind.
Argyle's title success was secured 12 months after agonisingly missing out on a play-off place following a 5-0 drubbing by MK Dons at Home Park in the final match of the season.
Schumacher said: "Our work started right after the MK Dons game and I would be lying if I said I believed we would be champions this year because we knew the strength of the division.
