SPECIALIST HAILED AS ‘INCREDIBLE'
LORNA HUGHES

A SPECIALIST nurse who was brought in to care for patients at Derriford Hospital who suffer with a chronic, incurable and unpredictable condition has been praised as 'incredible' by those she has helped.

Blessing Oluwasanmi was appointed in April 2023 to care for patients with with multiple sclerosis (MS), which affects the nerves in the brain and spinal cord and currently has no cure.

The role was funded by the Specialist Nurse Programme, which is run by the MS Trust and aims to ensure that everyone with MS in the UK has access to an MS health professional.

There are more than 2,000 patients in Plymouth and surrounding areas living with the condition, which can cause eyesight problems, fatigue, issues with balance, altered sensations and cognitive issues.
