TWO Devon and Cornwall Police officers who were stabbed multiple times in a "frenzied" attack have been nominated for a National Police Bravery Award.
PCs Tim Willett and Darren Brimacombe were left needing extensive surgery after the incident in Princetown in July, 2021, when they were looking for a missing person on Dartmoor. The man had left his home in Princetown amid reports of a domestic assault.
Police were told the missing man was despondent, under the influence of alcohol and had left in his car whilst in possession of razor blades. Devon and Cornwall Police PCs Willett and Brimacombe found the man in the driver's seat of his car.
A National Police Federation spokesperson said the man "exploded out of the open car door and attacked PC Brimacombe who was repeatedly stabbed as they grappled on the ground".
