Preparing for a new campaign

WITH the National One season less than four weeks away, the team at Plymouth Albion have been busy preparing Brickfields for a new season in typical style. The team are working long and hard to ensure the supporter experience is better than ever.

To start, the much-plagued scoreboard has had an internal facelift, with all new wiring, power supplies and data processor being installed after damage had been caused by the Plymouth weather. The scoreboard which measures five metres by three metres is ready and raring to go, with advertising space available around perimeter, but also on the big screen itself.

The next improvement is one the players will thank us for the pitch has been excavated, the drainage cleared and the levels lowered in front of the Princess Yachts Eric Johns Stand meaning postponements should be mitigated due to "excessive water" on the playing surface. The job included manually shifting nearly 50 tonnes of topsoil and painstakingly grading the surface to encourage run-off, as well as clearing out the drainage system.

The playing staff have taken up the challenge too, with the exterior of the Clubhouse getting a facelift. A fresh coat of paint, applied by many of the Albion First Team squad has brightened up the facility and looks great.
