THE Wildwood restaurant in Plymouth city centre has closed, as its troubled owner fights to stay afloat.
The hospitality chain Tasty Plc, which also runs the Dim t Asian food brand, has shuttered the Derry's Cross restaurant along with 13 other outlets.
Although another four are scheduled to close, it is expected the other Wildwood branch in Plymouth, at Royal William Yard, will survive the cull.
A sign in the shut Derry's Cross unit said: "Sorry, we have to say goodbye.
But please visit us at Royal William Yard." It added: "Enjoy a free drink with your meal at Wildwood Royal William Yard, just a five-minute drive away."
The Derry's Cross Wildwood occupied a unit that was previously the Spanish-style tapas bar La Tasca, which closed in 2014 after the Casual Dining Group began to shut or sell off the restaurants. Wildwood later opened at the listed Royal William Yard in 2017.
Tasty has run into problems and this month revealed plans to shut a raft of sites as part of a major restructuring.
The company said it would close 201 loss-making restaurants after a "challenging" start to the year.
