Stalled housing projects set to be re-started

THE company behind two stalled Plymouth housing developments has vowed that construction will start again next year. All work stopped at the sites in Whitleigh and Lipson during the summer, leaving 126 homes unfinished.

Residents living near the sites complained they were unsightly and potentially dangerous and still fear they may never be completed. But the Hampshire-based company behind the schemes in Whitleigh Green and Lipson Gardens earmarked for 27 and 99 homes respectively, has now stressed the sites are not “abandoned” and will be fully ready next year.

Alun Rees, chairman of G2 (pronounced G Squared) Housing Group Ltd, has told The Herald that the sites in Whitleigh Green and off Prince Maurice Road are now secured and that work will restart soon.

He said: “I understand that there is concern regarding our housing development sites at Lipson Gardens and Whitleigh Green, with particular regard to the safety aspects and a fear that the sites have been abandoned.

“I want to reassure you all that the sites have not been abandoned. On the contrary, we are currently in a transition stage between builders.
