Tavistock looking to keep their fine recent form going

THEY may have only played three league games in October, but a maximum nine-point haul was enough for Tavistock to be crowned team of the month in the Southern League Division One South.

Stuart Henderson’s side were 1-0 winners in the Devon derby at Exmouth Town before a superb 2-0 win at Paulton Rovers was followed with a 3-1 home success against Bishop’s Cleeve. It is a far cry from earlier in the season when the Lambs were rock bottom of the division having failed to win any of their first four matches – and they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Western League side Barnstaple Town as well.

However, Langsford Park is a far happier place right now and Henderson and his boys – three points off the play-off zone, but with games in hand - are looking forward to returning to action tomorrow when they head to Bristol Manor Farm, who are seventh.

“We are looking forward to getting back to it, we are in a healthy position in the league and I think all the boys prefer it when the games are regular, every three or four days, so they can get their sharpness. We’ve been training, but it is not the same,” Henderson said.

“We have won six and drawn one of the last seven which is very good because one or two people were knocking us earlier in the season when we were bottom. But we weren’t playing that bad and obviously, some of the games we won, we played worse than in some of the games we were losing, but that’s football for you.
