Trip to gin distillery is tonic for city gunners

GUNNERS from Plymouth's branch of the Royal Artillery Association enjoyed a tour of the world-famous Plymouth Gin Distillery - the oldest gin distillery in England.

The gunners, often found collecting for charities, dedicated the day instead to the appreciation of one of the world's 'cleanest' drinks. Gin has been produced in Plymouth since 1793, and one of its most loyal customers has been the Royal Navy.

To this day, the Navy enjoys a glass or three of the distillery's Navy Strength special gin, which has 17% more alcohol by volume than the more regular offering.
